Worship Connect for Jan. 31

Hey everyone!

A couple preliminary notes before we get into the good stuff going on at 7 pm worship this Sunday.

First, you may have heard about UPC’s Many Rooms Small Group thing going on this Lent. If you haven’t, you can read George’s letter about it right here. If you don’t have time to click on hyperlinks, then here’s the gist of it: join a small group.

Second, this Sunday is Youth Mission and Ministry Sunday. That means that out high school and middle school students will be participating in worship services, like up front, reading Scripture and whatnot. And rumor has it that they have some sort of video presentation. The offering this Sunday will go to our YMM folks and all the great stuff they do.

Third, we’re going wild this Sunday: in the Lord’s Prayer, we’re going to use the word “debts” instead of  “trespasses.” Look for more info on it in Monday’s Seattle Times, where this enormous event will surely receive due coverage.

See you there!

Worship Connect for Jan. 24

Hey everyone! Here’s your weekly dose of the 7 pm worship connect.  This Sunday, the pastor of our community stream here at UPC (don’t ask about the “stream” thing–long story) is speaking. Bruce might just be one of the most accomplished and brilliant pastors you’ll meet. Before he became a pastor, he owned a tech company that did something too complicated for me to understand–I’m thinking it was X-ray related–and had a number of patents.  He was also some sort of Microsoft exec for a while. He’s been a pastor here and at Bellevue Presbyterian, and he’s almost finished with his PhD in theology–it took him all of two years. So, long story short, it’ll be great to hear from him on Sunday. See you there!

Worship Connect for Jan. 17

Hey everyone! After a Christmas and post-Christmas sabbatical from posting the worship connect, it’s back! (“Sabbatical” means that we simply forgot to do it.)  Great service tonight, as always. Our hearts are heavy this week with what happened this week in Haiti; at the same time, we know that our God is close to the broken-hearted, the defender of the poor, and fills those who have nothing–and that’s something to rejoice in. Tonight, along with worshiping, we’re going to hear a little bit about UPC’s team in Haiti, and what we can do to help. (Incidentally, if you’d like to give to UPC’s efforts in Haiti, just click right here.) And, of course, we’ll be hearing from George as he continues his “Not Good to Be Alone” sermon series. Hope to see you tonight!
